AFC International's Universal Bump Test Station for Gas Detectors

The AFC International Bump Test Station is an easy to use device for the verification of sensor response of your multi gas or personal gas detectors. This simple bump test can be performed in less than 60 seconds and will give you the piece of mind that your instrument is responding to gas properly, prior to entering a confined space or dangerous gas area in a plant.

The wall mounted Bump Test Station can be modified to work with any make or model instrument on the market. A simple push of the start button activates the flow of test gas. A green light turns on, indicating the system is working. The flow meter on the front of the unit verifies that gas is flowing. In about 30 seconds all alarms on the instrument should be activated. If they are not, the instrument should not be used and then sent in for service. The station automatically shuts off after the selected time period and the green light goes out. AFC International uses quality gas standards that are certified accurate. The Bump Test Station can use any concentration of gas and cylinder sizes. We recommend that you use a gas concentration high enough to insure that all gas sensor alarms will be activated within a 30 to 60 second time period.

The Bump Test Station is a perfect compliment to any company’s calibration or maintenance schedule and can be customized to fit your gas detection program.The AFC International Bump Test Station is not intended to and/or should not be used to replace periodic instrument manufacturer’s recommended gas calibration interval! It is simply a test that can fill in the gaps between calibrations.

The ISEA passed a new statement in November 2009. This was after 2 1/2 years of debate. The definition of a bump test has now been expanded into two methods. There is now a qualitative (bump) and a quantitative (calibration check) for all gas monitors. The new statement is available here.

How to Use

  • Strip outer layer of shrink wrap at the perforation to reveal the tube for the cylinder of gas
  • Remove the black cap and place on the bottom of the tube. Either remove your cylinder of gas or use it while in the tube
  • Attach regulator to cylinder and use cylinder until empty
  • When gauge reads zero, remove regulator and pull cylinder out of tube
  • Next, simply strip perforated section on the cylinder’s shrink wrap to reveal pre-paid return label
  • Place empty cylinder back into the tube and place the black cap back on. The shipper will scan the bar code on the pre-paid shipping label.
  • No paperwork to fill out!

Breathing Air Sample Kits for Grade D Air Testing

In 2008, NFPA 1989 mandated an outside air analysis at least quarterly. With associated rules governing routine service, you may actually be required to test six times each year or more. You collect the air sample into the sterile container that we provide for you. (non-hazardous) The air is tested at a laboratory certified by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation as required by NFPA. You will receive a certificate stating that you air meets the standards you requested. If your air does not pass, you are contacted personally to discuss the problem and another test can be sent out at once to you.

Multi-Regulator Air Filtration Panels from Allegro Safety

Allegro air filtration panels filter impurities and hydrocarbons from an air compressor to convert to breathable air. A CO monitor is integrated to meet OSHA requirements for continuous monitoring of carbon monoxide levels. Each regulator can be individually adjusted at different pressure settings for different types of respirators and can also be used for supplying separate outlets for air tools. The CO monitor is integrated to meet OSHA requirements for continuous monitoring of carbon monoxide levels. Point of Attachment Air Control System for Allegro Air Filtration Panels

This Point of Attachment (POA) Air Control System connects to any breathing air source. It’s housed in a Pelican carry case that can be wall mounted and includes an adjustable pressure regulator, pressure gauge and a pressure relief valve. Carry-Air Filtration Panels from Allegro Safety

Allegro’s Air Filtration Panels convert shop air used for pneumatic tools and equipment to clean breathable air. They provide from 1 to 8 airline respirators a portable source of up to 15, 30, 60 or 100 CFM of breathable air from 5-125 psig. The 3 stage filtration system purifies compressed air removing water, oil and particulate contaminates. An optional carbon monoxide monitor, which can be operated in AC or DC mode, activates an audible alarm when the concentration of CO exceeds 10 ppm (set for 5 ppm in Canada).

The pressure regulator includes a pressure gauge and adjustment knob with locking ring. An adjustable pressure relief valve protects the CO monitor and respirators in the event of regulator failure. The Carry Air AC/DC powered unit is housed in a rugged Pelican case for portability and protection. It includes a support stand for stability and up right operation. An AC/DC powered Wall-mount unit is also available. Available with and without CO monitors. All models meet NIOSH requirements for point of attachment.

Remote CO Alarm for Carry-Air or Wall-Air Filtration Panels

The Remote CO Alarm System is attached to any air source or filter panel and alerts workers using supplied air respirators when the level of carbon monoxide has exceeded 10 ppm. This remote alarm system can be connected up to the filtration panel by means of a 50′ cable that plugs into the filtration panel. This allows the user to keep the CO Alarm closer to their working areas assuring them of being warned if the CO levels exceed 10 ppm. The alarm consists of both a loud 90 dB alarm and a highly visible red strobe light. Also available with a strobe.

The Honeywell BW Ultra is a portable 5 gas detector designed specifically for sampling and monitoring confined spaces, before and after entry. Honeywell BW Ultra offers unmatched sensor technology, visibility on gas readings, comfort and connectivity. This makes it the most reliable and user friendly way to prevent a safety incident. When you are sampling gases in a confined space, you need to constantly watch the reading on your gas detector and the Honeywell BW Ultra makes them easy to see. The detector has a 3.2″ screen and very high resolution, so you can quickly determine the level of each gas. It stands up to harsh condition. With a very high rating of IP66/68 the Honeywell BW Ultra is protected not only from dust but also from water ingress (high pressure spray or submersion up to 3.9′). Simultaneously monitor and display up to five atmospheric hazards with the BW Technologies GasAlertMicro 5 Gas Detector. Bump Test Station for Draeger Gas Detectors

This test is important in order to check the ability of the gas to flow through the dust and water filter over the sensor; to check that the calibration of the sensor is still correct; to check that the alarms work and are set correctly; to be in line with the regulations, standards, or recommendations from the local authorities.

A Draeger gas calibration cylinder is connected to the station. The bump test station includes the necessary gas regulator and an instrument-specific adapter for the connection of the different instruments.

Testing an instrument with a known concentration of gas is the only way to guarantee the reliable and accurate detection of gas hazards. During this test, the sensor’s response and the proper function of the instrument’s alarm functions will be checked.

Chip Measurement System (CMS) from Draeger

The Draeger CMS is ready for use after only a brief instruction. It makes no difference which gas or vapor you wish to measure – the instrument is used in the same way every time. The operation is guided by a menu on the display and a single button/switch. The display can be backlit. After an automatic system self-test, the analyzer is powered up and the measurement system is immediately ready for operation. Simply insert the chip, perform the measurement and read the measurement result displayed as a concentration on the screen. At the end of the measurement, the chip is automatically ejected from the instrument, and the analyzer shuts down. An audible signal sounds after each operating step. Power is supplied by 4 standard and easily replaceable batteries which are especially suited to the analyzer’s requirement. The battery capacity allows for more then 7 hours of measurement and is display on the screen.

The principle of mass current measurement ensures that the instrument remains unaffected by fluctuations in air pressure. Because the chips are calibrated before leaving the factory, there is no need for the user to calibrate the CMS. Any possible temperature and humidity effects are checked during factory calibration. The analyzer is explosion protected and certified in accordance with UL, UL/CAS and Cenelec. In addition, the system is protected against dust and splash water in accordance with IP54 and is resistant to electromagnetic waves.

To allow measurement at places which are difficult to access, a remote system is available. This comprises of an additional pump and extension hose is is connected to the back of the analyzer. Because the remote system is activated by its own switch, the system can remain attached to the analyzer. A telescopic probe can also be attached to the remote system.

A kit for emergency response is now available. It includes an analyzer, remote system, telescopic probe, 10 chips, flashlight/lantern, notepad and a chip case. Note: Chips marked with a (*) are included with this kit.

Draeger Safety X-am 2500 with Datalogger Multi Gas Detector
Draeger Safety’s X-am 2500 Multi Gas Detector accurately detects flammable gases, oxygen, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide and hydrogen sulfide and is the only 1-4 gas monitor that you need in industrial, mining and refinery applications. The X-am 2500 combines reliable sensor technology with long battery life and intuitive operation in an instrument that defines safety. The X-am 2500 has a large, easy to read, liquid crystal display. All gas readings are shown simultaneously and resize automatically depending on the number of sensors installed. When a gas alarm occurs, the reading for the sensor in alarm will be highlighted and will alternate with the alarm level indication of A1 or A2. The Draeger X-am 2500 can operate for more than 12 hours with either alkaline batteries or with rechargeable NiMH batteries. Depending on the requirements, the batteries can be charged either in the workshop or in a vehicle. Operating time without an Ex sensor installed is typically more than 250 hours. The X-am 2500 is compatible with Draeger’s X-dock testing and calibration station. X-dock is Draeger’s solution for efficient maintenance and comprehensive equipment management. Used for functional testing and complete documentation, X-dock can complete bump test in 8 to 15 seconds with more than 40% less gas consumption than competitive instruments. The X-am 2500 is also compatible with the Draeger Bump Test Station. The innovative, Catalytic Ex sensor has a high degree of drift stability with a high resistance to silicone and hydrogen sulfide. The sensor boasts an expected service life of more than 5 years and is extremely sensitive to flammable gases and vapors. Further, the X-am 2500 is approved for measuring, according to IEC/EN 60079029-1, from methane to nonene. The Draeger X-am 2500 has Ex approval for zone 0 for user safety in areas subject to explosion hazard. Additionally, it is not sensitive to electromagnetic radiation, e.g. from wireless devices and is water and dust resistant in accordance with protection class IP67. An optional external pump with a hose up to 98 feet is available for use in tanks and shafts or when searching for leaks. The switch from diffusion to pump operation can be handled quickly and easily without tools or screws. The Draeger X-am 2500 portable gas detector is comfortably worn thanks to its low weight and ergonomic design and gas can enter the unit from above and from the front – even if the instrument is inside a pocket or if the front gas entry is accidentally covered. The practical two button control panel and easy menu navigation allow for intuitive operation while the integrated protective rubber coating and sensors not sensitive to shock provide additional safety in case of impacts or vibrations. The X-am 2500 can store the highest gas readings for the Ex and toxic gas sensors and the lowest reading for the oxygen sensor. These readings can be easily reset after a gas exposure without having to turn the monitor off and on.

The Draeger Safety X-am 5000 is smallest combustible gas detection instrument for up to 5 gases. The Draeger X-am 5000 belongs to a new generation of gas detectors, developed specifically for personal monitoring as well as oxygen and harmful concentrations of CO, H2S, CO2, Cl2, HCN, NH3, NO2, PH3, H2, NO and SO2. Two new sensors are available including the Dual O2/CO and the dual H2S/CO. Despite its advanced functionality, the Draeger X-am 5000’s practical, mobile phone design and light weight make it comfortable for users to carry. Reduced to its essentials, the two button control panel and easy to follow menu system allow for intuitive use.

It is easy to exchange, upgrade or calibrate the sensors to other gases. The ability to customize the X-am 5000’s sensors makes more application possible.

For improved safety when facing unknown and potentially explosive hazards – the x-am 5000 provides dependable warnings in the event of explosive atmospheres due to the high level of sensitivity of the innovative catalytic ex sensor. It not only responds quickly to explosive gases and combustible organic vapors, it is also highly resistant against sensor poisons such as silicone and hydrogen sulfide. In combination with its long term stability, this offers a long sensor lifetime of over 4 years. This will reduce operational costs.

Equipped with durable XXS sensor technology, the x-am 5000 offers maximum security at extremely low operational costs. The x-am 5000 is water and dust resistant, accordingly to IP67 standards. The detector remains fully functional and ready to use, even after being dropped into water. The integrated rubber protection and shock proof sensors provide additional resistance to impact and vibration. Moreover, the X-am 5000 is resistant to electromagnectic interference.

The optional external pump, which operates with a hose length of up to 45M makes it possible to use the detector for pre-entry measurements into confined spaces such as tanks, shafts, etc. The pumps tarts automatically when attached to the detector.

Simple, fast and professional; from function or bump test to complete documentation, users can choose from a range of practical, on-site solutions that offer maximum safety for every application. The automatic test and calibration station, X-Dock, and the Draeger Bump Test Station are ideal system extensions that save time and reduce workload. Fresh air, mixed gas and single gas calibrations can be done directly using the x-am menu.

The X-am 5000 can be used with standard alkaline batteries. In addition, it can be fitted with a T4 battery that can be charged while still inside the instrument. The optional Save Energy Mode makes it possible to increase the operating time of the X-am 5000 to more than 40 hours. This i done by selecting a measurement interval of either one second , 10 or 20 seconds for the CatEx sensor.

Draeger X-am 7000 multi  gas detector is an innovative solution for the simultaneous and continuous detection of up to five gases. A combination of more than 25 sensors allows flexible solutions to individual monitoring tasks. The Draeger X-am 7000 also has a photo-ionization detector (PID) that detects volatile organic compounds (VOC) for VOC monitoring and VOC gas detection.  A PID sensor is now available for the Draeger X-am 7000 combustible gas detector. This smart plug and play sensor is intended for use in confined space entry and area monitoring applications. The PID sensor can used in sample draw of diffusion configurations. This sensor employs a 10.6 eV lamp to monitor a wide range of VOC’s from 0 to 5,000 ppm depending on the gas selected with a 1 ppm resolution. Draeger X-am 7000 portable gas detector is an innovative solution for the simultaneous and continuous detection of up to five gases. A combination of more than 25 sensors allows flexible solutions to individual monitoring tasks. The Draeger X-am 7000 can be equipped with three electrochemical and two catalytic bead or infrared sensors. It is the ideal companion in a great number of application where reliable monitoring of oxygen, toxic and combustible gases and vapors in the ambient air is necessary. The extensive portfolio of over 25 different DraegerSensors allows the detection of more than 100 gases and vapors. The measuring range of the EC, Cat-EX and IR sensors can be changed to another gas within a list of gases by a push of a button – without the necessity of recalibrating. This way the accuracy and the range of the monitored substances is increased. DraegerSensors are renowned for fast response, minor cross sensitivities, high accuracy and long life. Each sensor is recognized automatically by the instrument. All sensors are precalibrated and a reconfiguration of the Draeger X-am 7000 is done by simply changing a sensor. No additional service or maintenance is necessary. The software menu of the Draeger X-am 7000 was designed in partnership with our customers making it simple and easy to use. With the help of CC-Vision software, up to 5 different detection applications can be saved within the instrument By doing so, the use of different instrument configurations can be set for that specific application. During operation, a simple change between these set parameters can be done via the instrument’s menu. A new, flexible goose-neck probe simplifies the search for leaks at e.g. flanges, shut-off devices and valves. In the tracking mode, the instrument generates an increasing or decreasing rate of beeps, depending on the gas concentration detected. Additional to the built in dust and splash water protection, the Draeger X-am 7000 can be submersed without damage. A specially designed rubber boot protects the instrument against damage from a drop of 5 feet. The completely new design of the rechargeable battery block with intelligent charging management guarantees full functionality of the instrument over a period of up to 20 hours (depending on the battery type). An alkaline battery pack is also available. The DraegerSensors used in the Draeger X-am 7000 have a typical life of over 5 years. If, in time, an exchange is necessary, the modular approach of the instrument allows this in a few simple steps. Alarm conditions can not be ignored because of the sound of an extremely loud multi tone horn. In addition the visual alarm can be seen through 360° ensuring it attracts the users attention. By generating an optional life signal every six seconds the Draeger X-am 7000 confirms it is functioning normally. The large graphic display and the alarm auto zoom function guarantee easy recognition of the values and symbols displayed for immediate judgment about the situation or hazards. All information is provided in plain text. A built in data memory logs up to 3,000 sets of values – that is data logging of 100 hours when recording one set per minute. The data can be transmitted and evaluated on a PC using an infrared interface together with the GasVision software package. The built in high power pump allows to sample gas through a 45M long tube. The operation of the pump is continuously monitored and the instrument will generate an alarm if the flow is too low.

Draeger Saver CF N Emergency Escape Breathing Apparatus

In emergency situations, conditions can deteriorate rapidly. Ambient breathing air can be suddenly filled with smoke or toxic fumes and rapid escape is the only available option. The Saver C N constant flow emergency escape breathing apparatus (EEBA) allows safe, effective and uncomplicated escape from hazardous environments. Simple to don and easy to operate, this hood based, positive pressure breathing device can be used with minimal training. The Draeger Saver CF N is highly visible and was designed to be suitable even for people with spectacles or facial hair. When opened, the Draeger Saver is automatically activated and begins feeding a continuous supply of breathing air. The Save gives the wearer the precious additional time needed to exit the area safely.

Packaged in an integrated soft bag, the Saver can be easily wall mounted in strategic locations in potentially hazardous areas. The bright orange bags feature reflective panels for enhanced visibility even under low lighting conditions. The Saver is compact and lightweight and can be worn either as a chest bag or over the shoulder. Made from highly resistant materials, it is washable, flame retardant and allows water to drain freely.

The Draeger Save utilizes a simple, fail safe reducer system with excellent flow characteristics, providing a consistent rate of air flow until the cylinder is completely empty. It can be equipped with cylinder which can hold either a 5, 10 or 15 minute supply of air. The flame retardant hood incorporates a large visor for maximum peripheral vision.

The Draeger Saver requires very little service or maintenance. A transparent window on the soft bag lets you check the cylinder pressure gauge without unpacking the unit. The cylinder can be refilled without the need to remove it from the bag.

The Draeger Saver CF N  complies with NIOSH, ABS and TC approvals. It can be used in a range of applications both on and off shore to protect the user against any unexpected change in environment. Chemical, oil & gas, shipping steel and pharmaceutical industries can all rely on the Saver CF N for safe and uncomplicated escape.

Featuring an ergonomic design and innovative infrared sensor technology, the Draeger X-am 5600 is the smallest gas detection instrument for the measurement of up to 6 gases. Ideal for personal monitoring applications, this robust and water-tight detector provides accurate, reliable measurements of explosive, combustible and toxic gases and vapors as well as oxygen. Small, light and easy to use – the robust and water tight X-am 5600 gas detector is designed for single handed operation in tough industrial environments. Water and dust-proof according to IP67 and with an integrated rubber boot, the device provides optimal functionality even under harsh conditions. Thanks to the high stability and a resistance to contamination, Draeger infrared sensors can generally be used for up to 8 years. This advanced technology reduces the cost of ownership considerably because less replacement sensors are needed. In addition, a sensor calibration is only necessary every 12 months which reduces maintenance costs. The infrared sensor IR Ex allows the measurement of explosive, combustible hydrocarbons in the range of the lower explosive limit. The infrared sensor IR CO2, with a measurement resolution of 0.01Vol%, provides safe and exact measurements as well as a warning against toxic concentrations of carbon dioxide in ambient air. For those applications where the reliable measurement of explosive substances and CO2 is specifically needed, the advantages of both can be achieved by a dual sensor (Dual IR CO2/Ex) Besides hydrocarbons, hydrogen can also be an explosive gas. Because sensors based on infrared technology do not warn hydrogen explosion dangers, the gas detector X-am 5600 combines two sensor signals (infrared Ex and electrochemical H2) or reliable hydrogen detection. The X-am 5600 provides the advantages of poison free technology to be used in areas where, until now, only catalytic Ex sensors have been used. Thanks to the combination of innovative infrared technology and the latest electrochemical Draeger XXS miniature sensors, this 1 to 6 gas detector reliably detects explosive, combustible, and harmful concentrations of O2, Cl2, CO, CO2, H2, H2S, HCN, NH3, NO, NO2, PH3, SO2, O3, Amine, odorant, COCl2 and organic vapors. With the PC software Draeger CC-Vision, the sensors can easily be exchanged, calibrated or converted to meet the needs of different applications. An optional external pump which can be operated with hoses up to 45M in length is the perfect solution for pre-entry measurements in tanks or pipelines. This small and reliable gas detector is suitable for use in areas classified as zone O, which are areas where explosive atmospheres are always to be expected.

Draeger X-am 8000 Gas Detector With PID

Clearance measurement was never this easy and convenient: The Draeger X-am 8000 measures up to 7 toxic as well as flammable gases, vapors and oxygen all at once – either in pump or diffusion mode. Innovative signaling design and handy assistant functions ensure complete safety throughout the process.  The Draeger X-am 8000 is equipped with a very powerful internal pump. It can be connected with hoses up to 45 meters in length. A pump adapter makes it easy to switch between diffusion and pump mode at any time. This means the pump is only operated when you actually need it. That saves energy, reduces wear and tear and thereby extends the lifespan of the pump.

Handy and durable, the Draeger X-am 8000 is intuitive to operate single handedly using three function keys. The easy to read color display clearly lays out all the information for you. Standard accessories include a sturdy shoulder strap, so you can comfortably carry the X-am 8000. thanks to its compact and robust construction, the device can withstand even the harshest conditions.

The X-am 8000 effectively supports various applications with specially developed assistant functions that guide you through each process step by step. During clearance measurement, for example, the smart assistant calculates gases, temperature limits and the indicated hose length. When monitoring for high methane concentrations, a configurable automatic measurement range switch makes it easier to take a reading: if the Cat-Ex sensor measures values above 100% LEL, the display switches to the range of 0 to 100% Vol.

The signal system of the X-am 8000 is based on a clear color code:

  • Red light = gas alarm
  • Yellow light = device related alarm, e.g. low battery
  • Green light = device is ready for use

The green glow of the D-light allows you to see from a distance whether the device has been properly tested and is ready for use. In case of an alarm, the X-am 8000 alerts you with colorful alarms LEDs, a loud horn (100 dB(A) at a distance of 30 cm) and clearly palpable vibration. Optionally, four preset hazards symbols are available for the display which explicitly indicate the presence of explosive or toxic gas hazards. This allows the user to easily recognize the type of hazard based purely on the symbol displayed.

The X-am 8000 is equipped with a shock detection system. The event report indicates whenever severe mechanical impacts have occurred that might result in functional impairments of the device or the sensors. There are also documented in the data logger.

Bump Test and calibration are carried out simply and quickly using the Draeger X-Dock calibrating station. Its low test gas consumption keeps operating costs to a minimum. Its reporting function and numerous other useful features make the X-dock Manager PC software a smart addition to any fleet management operation. To identify the devices in the fleet, you can either use tried and tested barcodes or an integrated RFID transponder

To measure had to detect hydrocarbons, you can fit the Draeger X-am 8000 with one of two high performance PID sensors. The PID HC covers a measurement range of 0-2,000 ppm. The PID LC ppb is particularly suited for a measurement range of 0-10 ppm with a resolution range below 1 ppm. For benzene specific measurements, the X-am 8000 can be used with a pre-tube. The advantage: you only need one measuring device for this application, which significantly reduces the costs of purchasing and maintaining and transporting devices in use. The use of the pre-tubes is supported by a built in assistant.

The X-am 8000 features inductive charging. This makes it easier to operate and increases the lifespan of the device. Issues like corrosion and contact problems in the charging cradle are a thing of the past. You can charge (outside of explosion-hazard zones) an measure at the same time, e.g. when in use inside vehicles or machinery. The charging cradles can connect with one another, taking up minimal space and are compatible with existing X-am series cradles.

Handy Pak Portable Air Supply Systems from Draeger Safety

It can serve as a primary air source by using cylinders for breathable air or when using an eternal high pressure source (e.g. a compressor), the cylinders can provide air for emergency egress.

Any SCBA type cylinder can be used with the Handy Pak. The CGA 347 fitting which is standard and permits use of either low or high pressure cylinders (up to 4500psi).

The Handy Pak features an adjustable regulator, 4 quick connect outlets and a low pressure alarm whistle. When using 2 cylinder, both can be opened for simultaneous use, or only one can be operational allowing for changeout of the second cylinder.

Handy Pak is lightweight and designed for portability. It can easily be carried via hand to the worksite to provide breathable air in a confined space or hazardous environment. Or it can be wall mounted with an optional bracket.

PAS Colt Personal Airline Respirator from Draeger Safety

Draeger’s PAS Colt combines versatility, ease of use and the latest in breathing apparatus design. It is among the most technologically advanced, short duration emergency escape unit available. The PAS Colt is NIOSH approved for entry and escape and may be used in the supplied air mode up to 300 feet or 12 hose length sections form the air source, whichever is greater. The very latest harness design and materials, accompanied by lightweight cylinder, make wearing the ergonomically designed PAS Colt stable and comfortable. The versatility allows it to be used effectively in applications and environments ranging from chemical spills and decontamination operations to routine maintenance tasks. The PAS Colt is a hip mounted unit with a distinctive, sophisticated harness design which retains its form, making it easy for the wearer to don the apparatus imply and quickly.

The procedure for donning the PAS Colt is evident at first glance, even to the inexperienced user. Equipped as an option, the unique ‘drop down’ feature where the cylinder can be unclipped form the waistbelt, makes the PAS Colt ideal for use in confined space entry applications. The harness has been constructed using an antistatic material inert to chemicals and oil and impervious to most acids and alkalis. Benefiting from a high resistance to abrasion and heat, this new harness meets the requirements of EN137 heat and flame resistance This means that the unit operates trouble free over temperature ranges of -22°F to 140°F and will self extinguish within 5 seconds after exposure to flame temperatures of 1742°F plus or minus 122°F. The Colt is also fully machine washable.

This materials was chosen because of its flexibility and ability to retain its form and shape, in a wide range of temperatures. Its durability, ease of cleaning, resistance and strength means it is ideal for use in extreme conditions. The technology used in the development of this unit is inherited from Draeger’s advanced PSS range of breathing apparatus, designed for professional fire fighters. The buckles used are designed to be easily located, even when wearing gloves for quick adjustment. The buckles follow the contours of the unit to reduce the risk of snagging.

Should the airline supply fail for any reason, the escape cylinder would be employed by simply opening the cylinder valve. New to the SAR system is the optional Low Pressure Airline warning whistle which activates in the event that the incoming air pressure drops below safe levels. The PAS Colt includes the versatile Draeger Panorama Nova full facepiece with triple sealing edges for a superior fit and a speech diaphragm for clear communications. Three sizes in one mask is also compatible with other Draeger compressed air respiratory products.

Rescue Pak from Draeger

The Rescue Pak is ideal for use in confined space, HazMat response, tank entry and cleaning, sewer maintenance and chemical handling operations among other applications. It can serve as a primary air source by using cylinders for breathable air, or when using an external high pressure source (e.g. a compressor), the cylinders can provide air for emergency egress.

Any SCBA type cylinder can be used with the Rescue Pak. The CGA 347 fitting which is standard and permits use of either low or high pressure cylinders (up to 4500 psi). A directional valve in the pneumatics ensures only one cylinder at a time is supplying air.

The Rescue Pak features an adjustable regulator for 4 quick connects outlets, a second regulator for a 5 quick connect outlet and a low pressure alarm whistle. The fifth air connection with its dedicated regulator provides air at a different, lower pressure than to the respirators. This connection is ideal for pneumatic tools.

The Rescue Pak has a lightweight frame with 8″ ball bearing wheels and a telescopic handle for the ease of movement and portability. The telescopic handle provides compact storage in the down position. On the rear of the Rescue Pak, up to 50′ of the supplied airline hose can be stored.

X-act 5000 Automatic Tube Pump for Draeger Tubes
The automatic X-act 5000 tube pump is the first all in one solution designed for measurements with Draeger short term tubes and for sampling tubes and systems. Ease of operation and a high degree of reliability compliment the measurement and sampling of gases, vapors and aerosols. The automatic tube pump is compatible with Draeger short term tubes as well as sampling tubes and systems. The robust housing supports the use of  the pump to perform the daily measuring tasks under tough conditions. The components of the pump are corrosion resistant and the pump is additionally equipped with a user replaceable filter which traps sulfur trioxide aerosols protecting the pump for up to two years. The display is backlit to enable use of the pump under poor lighting conditions. All Draeger short term tubes and accessories can be used with the Draeger X-act 5000. The IS approved Draeger X-act 5000 can be used for confined space applications and in explosive gas atmospheres – always ready wherever fast and reliable on-site measurements are required. The key principle is the ability to provide the required flow characteristics of the Draeger short term tubes, while also providing the option to be used with sampling tubes and systems requiring constant flow. Compared to the Draeger accuro hand pump, this new concept reduces the average measurement time of the Draeger short term tubes in case of a high number of strokes. The internal pump is also designed to use extension hoses up to a length of 30 M. The handling of gases, vapors and aerosols has never been easier. The automatic tube pump directs the air to be measured through the appropriate Draeger Tubes effortlessly. It is comfortably carried with one hand or using the shoulder strap and is easily operated, even wearing protective gloves. A simple and intuitive menu structure provides the user efficient operation with just a few button presses. Using the password protected menu repetitive operating modes can be set. A barcode printed on the label on the backside of a Draeger short term tube box contains all relevant measurement parameters. Simply sliding the barcode over the barcode reader of the pump, automatically transfers the name of the substance to be measured, the number of strokes and the measuring range of the display. The required steps to carry out the measurement are simplified with the X-act 5000 and the possibility of making an error is reduced to a minimum. Draeger short term tubes are calibrated for measurement in ambient air. To evaluate measurements in technical gases, the properties of the technical gas must be taken into consideration. Technical gases have a different viscosity than ambient air. Therefor, the flow of the pump must be set accordingly. Following the operating steps in the mode, Measurement in Technical Gases, the X-act 5000 will automatically be adjusted to the require flow parameter and the measurement result can be read directly. Depending on the sampling tubes or systems, the required parameters for the test can be set directly without the need for an external flowmeter. The X-act 5000 automatically adjusts the flowrate. After setting the sampling time the pump can immediately be started. At the end of the measurement the pump will stop automatically. The set data, the elapsed time and the pumped volume will be indicated on the display.

X-plore Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) from Draeger

Workplace environments that compromise the quality of air you breathe demand reliable solutions. The Draeger X-plore 8000 full face respirator powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) offers a new level of intuitive handling combined with intelligent electronics. A high degree of safety that you and your people need to focus on the task at hand.

The X-plore 8000 is a rugged PAPR. It features a heavy duty design with rubber protectors and high ingress protection (IP65) against dust and water from any direction. A choice of two battery versions incorporating the latest Li-Ion battery technology provide power for at least 4 to 8 hours, respectively. It has protected air intake openings to ensure that sparks or water coming from the front will not be sucked into the filter.

The advanced carrying system ensures optimal weight distribution of the unit. The system provides a tight and stable connection between the belt and the unit through a special adapter plate; a comfort pad is also available as an option. The hose connector features a a 360° adapter. To avoid eye irritation, the system’s new headpieces are designed for optimal airflow and maximum comfort.

The PAPR unit recognizes the connected headgear and automatically selects the correct minimum flow which avoids leakages due to insufficient flow rates. An optical sensor prevents use without the filter and supports the right display of the saturation of the particle filter at any time. The filter system features plug and go exchange. In addition to the optical and acoustical alarm, the unit is also equipped with a vibration alarm. The entire system features uniform color codes on all exchangeable elements and an error proof hose connector.

The Draeger X-plore 8000 PAPR was designed to be practically maintenance free, leading to low cost of ownership. The self check and self adjustment systems feature advanced temperature and pressure sensor technology to ensure the right flow rate for any environment. The simple and efficient charging system allows rapid charging (less then 3 hours for an empty battery). The unit is designed for fast and easy disassembly for cleaning.

Draeger X-am 3500 Multi Gas Detector
The Draeger X-am 3500 Gas Detector was especially designed for clearance measurements and personnel monitoring applications. The 1 to 4 gas detector reliably detects flammable gases and vapors as well as oxygen, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen dioxide, and sulfur dioxide. The innovative signaling design and extensive range of accessories ensure optimum safety and easy handling. The X-am 3500 is equipped with a very powerful pump. It can be connected with hoses up to 147′. A pump  adapter makes it easy to switch between diffusion and pump mode at any time. This means the pump is only operated when you actually need it. That saves energy, reduces wear and tear and thereby extends the lifespan of the pump. Handy and durable the Draeger X-am 3500 is intuitive to operate with one handed operation using three function keys. The easy to read color display clearly lays out all the information for you. Thanks to its compact and robust construction, the device can withstand even the harshest conditions. The single system of this detector is based on a clear color code, in accordance with the requirement of EN 60079-29-1, EN 45544-1 an EN 50104:
  • Red light = gas alarm
  • Yellow light = device related alarm, eg low battery
  • Green light = device is ready for use
The green glow of the D-light allows you to see from a distance whether the device has been properly tested and is ready to use. In case of an alarm, the X-am 3500 alerts you with colorful LEDs, a loud horn (100 dBA) at a distance of 1′ and clearly noticeable vibration. Four preset hazard symbols are available as an option for the display which explicitly indicates the presence of explosive or toxic gas hazards. This allows the uer to easily recognize the type of hazard based purely on the symbol displayed. Bump tests and calibrations are carried out simply and quickly using the Draeger X-Dock calibration station. It slow test gas consumption keeps operating cost to a minimum. Its reporting function and numerous other useful features make the -ock Manager PC software a smart addition to any fleet management operation. To identify the devices in the fleet, you can either use barcodes or an integrated RFID transponder. The X-am 3500 features inductive changing. This makes it easier to operate and increases the lifespan of the device. Issues like corrosion and contact problems in the charging cradle are a thing of the past. You can charge (outside of explosion hazard zones) and measure simultaneously when in use inside vehicles or on machinery. The charging cradles can connect with one another, taking up minimal space and are compatible with existing Draeger X-am series cradles.

G460 Multi-Gas Detector With PID from GfG

The GfG G460 combustible gas detector is the world’s most advanced multi-sensor atmospheric monitor. The durable G460 continuously measures and displays readings for up to six gases at the same time.  G460 combustible gas detectors are available for use with a wide range of long lasting interchangeable, smart sensors for LEL, O2, H2S, CO, NH3, SO2, CL2, PH3, NO2, HCN, ETO, ClO2, HF, O3, NO and H2 as well as an infrared (NDIR) sensor for the direct measurement of carbon dioxide and a photoionization detector (PID) for the measurement of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

The G460 combustible gas detector is compact, robust and very easy to use portable gas detector. The dust proof and highly water resistant (IP-67) housing is designed to survive the toughest environmental conditions. The housing even includes a built in rubberized boot to withstand the hard knocks of confined space entry.

The G460 keeps gas detectors simple. Most day to day functions are controlled with a single button and calibration is fully automatic. Simply attach the adapter and flow gas to the sensors. GfG Autocal programming automatically makes the adjustments and updates the information in the instrument’s on board memory.

The G460 carries a lifetime warranty on non consumable components and a 2 year warranty on consumable components. O2, LEL, H2S, CO and COSH sensors carry a full 3 year warranty against failure.

Depending on the sensors installed, the G460 battery packs deliver up to 25 hours of continuous operation. Alkaline packs are powered by two “AA” batteries. Rechargeable battery packs can be completely recharged in less than four hours in the drop in cradle charger. Rechargeable battery packs can even be equipped with optional “flash lights” LEDs.

Whether it’s worn on your belt or held by hand, the G460 is easy to read. The top mounted, full graphics LCD includes a built in backlight for use in the dark. Readings can be zoomed or flipped at the push of a button to make it even easier to see your monitoring results.

The G460 includes an extremely loud audible alarm (103 dB at 12″), built in vibrator and bright wrap around LED alarm lights visible from every direction. The top mounted display changes color from green to orange to red just like a traffic signal to help communicate the severity of the hazardous condition.

The field attachable motorized pump is powered by its own alkaline or rechargeable battery pack. The powerful diaphragm pump is equipped with an on/off shutter that allows the instrument to be used in diffusion mode even while the pump is attached.

All G460 instruments are equipped with datalogging. The datalogger records gas concentrations and alarms on moment to moment basis. Monitoring results can be downloaded to a PC for viewing, storage and evaluation.

Each G460 VOC monitoring device comes complete with sensors and battery pack (as specified), cal adapter, manual and training DVD. Rechargeable instruments additionally include a drop in cradle charger and wall power adapter. The G460 DS400 Docking Station offers complete automatic functional testing, calibration, instrument charging and record keeping.

The Rae Systems by Honeywell MultiRae Lite is a portable combustible gas detector that provide versatile, customizable detection and monitoring of up to six gases, available in both pumped and diffused air models. With more than 25 sensors to choose from – the broadest selection in its class – it can test for VOCs, combustibles and a range of toxic threats, as well as monitor sufficient oxygen levels, making it an excellent choice for personal protection and leak detection in a range of industries and applications.

The wireless connection sends threat and alarm data in real time to a central command, providing superior awareness for fast incident response. And its replaceable sensors, alarm and battery, large screen and automated bump testing can calibration make it easy to use and maintain.
